Before Circulon was founded, home cooks faced an impossible choice. You could have durable cookware like stainless steel that food stuck to mercilessly, or you could have easy-to-clean nonstick pans that were flimsy and wore out quickly. There was no middle ground.
Stanley Cheng, a mechanical engineer and visionary, established Circulon with a revolutionary idea. He invented the world's first hard-anodized aluminum nonstick cookware. This breakthrough process made aluminum twice as hard as stainless steel while retaining aluminum's superior heat conduction properties.
But Cheng didn't stop there. To further protect the nonstick coating and extend its life, he developed the patented "Hi-Low" circular groove system—those signature raised circles you see on every Circulon pan. This design ensures that utensils only touch the raised "High" circles, protecting the "Low" valleys from scratches and abrasion, dramatically extending the nonstick surface's lifespan.
